Major Divisions Of The Office Of Recovery Management:

  • - Infrastructure and Environmental Planning

  • - Resettlement and Economic Development

  • - Strategic Planning

  • - FEMA Public Assistance Program



Infrastructure and Environmental Planning:

The Infrastructure and Environmental Planning (IEP) Division has the objective to create a local environment that is safe from flooding and toxic contamination. IEP manages projects in the areas of disaster management, hazard mitigation, infrastructure, environment, and sustainable development.

First, IEP has a role as coordinator or stakeholder for projects at other governmental agencies, in the following areas:

  • - Soil remediation (lead, arsenic, etc.)

  • - Flood proofing (land buyouts, secondary levees, etc.)

  • - Coastal restoration (wetlands, bayous, etc.)

  • - Regional storm and flood protection

  • - Waste-to-energy systems

  • - Green jobs programs (recycling, etc.)

  • - Energy efficient buildings (solar, SCIP, etc.)

  • - Basic infrastructure upgrades (interior drainage, water, sewer, streets, lights, etc.

  • - Parishwide Integrated Infrastrucuture Plan (across multiple local agencies and private infrastructure providers)

  • - Neighborhood drainage studies
