         Major Divisions of the Office of Recovery Management



  • - A “Journey Home Center” is located in Houston, where the largest number of displaced New Orleans citizens lives. It provides similar services as the Welcome Home Center, but is also in a position to help with transportation home. For more information, call (713) 527-4027. Other “Journey Home” centers are planned for the future.
The Resettlement division also has working relationships with other organizations that help people return home. For instance, the “NOLA Bound” program is operated by the Louisiana Family Recovery Corps, and can be reached at http://www.nolabound.org or toll-free at 877-752-6452.

Economic Development:

This division is also building programs to attract businesses to locate and grow in New Orleans. For more information, call Lavon Wright, Community Development Specialist, at 504-658-8411.


FEMA Public Assistance Program:

Public Assistance (PA) is a program of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to provide assistance to states, local governments, and certain Non-Profit organizations to alleviate suffering and hardship resulting from major disasters or emergencies declared by the President. Through the PA Program, FEMA provides supplemental Federal disaster grant assistance for the repair, replacement, or restoration of disaster-damaged, publicly owned facilities, and the facilities of certain Private Non-Profit (PNP) organizations.
