Julianna D. Padgett

Julianna D. Padgett, Ph.D., LCSW is the Resource Development manager. A native New Orleanian, Dr. Padgett has taken a leave of absence from the School of Social Work, Southern University at New Orleans, where she taught since 1996 in the areas of community change, conflict, groups, gerontology, death and dying and research. Dr. Padgett is also an organizational consultant, providing training, facilitation and mediation services. Dr. Padgett earned her Masters in Social Work at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and her doctorate at Tulane University.

Since Katrina, Dr. Padgett has provided workshops on trauma healing efforts and helped develop the StormBridge curriculum focused on the overlay of racism and trauma. She has been involved in many of the recovery planning processes and continues her interest in the development of citizen participation in New Orleans. For the last three years, she has also co-directed a senior drama group, The Golden Hearts Players. She is active on several community boards including the Uptown Shepherd’s Senior Center, Community Mediation Services, Turning Point Partners, and the Carrollton Riverbend Residents Association and has served on the advisory committee of The Alliance for Affordable Energy.
