         Principles of the Recovery Strategy Framework


ORM’s recovery efforts follow these five principles:

1. Continue the healing and the consultation
  • - Assure New Orleanians – at home and elsewhere – that they are not forgotten, that the City cares about them and wants them to return, and that the rebuilding effort is underway

  • - Engage and involve residents in the recovery process

  • - Sustain community participation in shaping the future development of the City, Parish, and Region

2. Improve Safety and Security in all communities
  • - Enhance emotional and social quality of life in the City for all residents in all locations

  • - Reduce physical threats to personal security

  • - Re-establish basic human health and educational services

3. Develop a more diverse and robust economy
  • - Focus on international trade, digital media, health systems, advanced business services, and green technology

  • - Become the gateway to growing trade zones in South America, sub-Saharan Africa, and the Caribbean.
